Maintaining and Restoring Oregon lawns since 2009

A power rake or dethatcher is a machine that rakes debris such as thatch, moss and pine debris in lawns so the debris can be removed making room for healthy turf growth. Thatch is an accumulation of grass that is not decomposing. Excess lawn debris can prevent water, seeds, and fertilizer from reaching the soil. Think of it as a mower with vertical blades.

Power raking (dethatching) scratches the soil surface in 1" rows. This improves seed germination rates and makes the soil surface more level.

If you are unsure whether or not dethatching is right for your lawn you may select "determine if it is needed. If it is proceed" when filling out our online reservation form. We'll use our knowledge and experience to determine what's best for your lawn. Learn more.
